Question by kyles974: Where to find “how to build wood Raised Panel exterior shutters”?
I have searched but can’t seem to find a good site for building working panel exterior shutters. I’ve found ehow and diy sites for this but there not very good. I have great skills but begenner shills in wood working. I want to build a panel style shutter that works. I do well with picture build plans rather than wording. (I’m the type that buys a desk, shelving, bookcase, etc., and assembles by looking at the pics, rather than reading the directions)
I thought about going with the style that has like the 1×6’s with 1 or 2 across to hold them together, but, I really would like the panel look.
Thanks
from GuitarGeorge site I get this:
(thanks G/G)
cut panel at desire angle and dept, the take, oh lets say 1×4’s nail/glue a square and take a router and cut a groove on the inside to allow the panel to fit on the inside?

A raised panel shutter is essentially a raised panel door. Here is a site with pictures on how to do it using only a table saw. http://www.australianwoodsmith.com.au/pdf/32insertjigraisedpanels.pdf
Good luck with your project

Not exactly the answer you’re looking but this is what I did. My home style is “country” so I took two 2×6 and joined them with a strip of wood top and bottom leaving a center gap. In the middle I did a cutout of a pine tree. A personalized shutter that everyone comments on and loves. I just thought the raised panel shutters a little too “common”. No offense but all the homes on my street have them or the slatted type.
